Why do water rates increase?

The City of Fife purchases its water from the City of Tacoma. The rate increase addresses the costs of purchasing water from the City of Tacoma and also costs associated with providing ongoing system improvements. From 2020 to 2021, City of Fife water rates decreased by approximately ($4.68) per bi-monthly (two- month) period for a typical single-family residence.
