PARKS, RECREATION AND AQUATICS

The health of our citizens is the highest priority for the City of Fife. The City of Fife has temporarily closed the Fife Community Center and Fife Aquatic Center to the general public effective Friday, March 13. Additionally, all recreation and senior programming at both facilities have been suspended for the time being. The Parks, Recreation and Aquatics team are working hard to follow the Governor’s Safe Start plan to reopen. Please see details below for more information on programs and facilities.

Here are more details:

BALL FIELDS: The Dacca Park Athletic Complex ball fields are now open for small group rentals. There are just a few guidelines and restrictions. They are:
• Fields are open for rentals for practices, but not games.
• Players are limited to groups of 5 in separate parts of the field, and should be separated by a buffer zone.
• Health guidelines recommend that players practice good physical distancing of at least 5 feet between players, with no direct contact between players.
• Due to the high demand of fields, rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis
Ready to rent? Email Marta Gailushas at mgailushas@cityoffife.org.
CCS LUNCHES: It is important that seniors don’t lose this valuable nutrition resource during this time. In-person lunches are canceled, but seniors can pick up boxed lunches from CCS at the Fife Community Center, 2111 54th Ave E., between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.
CREDITS/REFUNDS: Credits were issued to user accounts for all canceled programs, events, lessons and rentals.  These credits will be valid through the end of the year (12/31/2020). If anyone would like to inquire about a refund, please contact 253-922-7665 or email aquaticcenter@cityoffife.org.
DOG PARK: The off-leash dog park at Dacca remains open. However, parks employees are monitoring the park to ensure it does not get too crowded.
FIFE AQUATIC CENTER: The Fife Aquatic Center is not yet ready to open to the public. The pool is open for private swim team rentals only, as there are many restrictions still in place.

Reservation only lap swim will begin on Monday, July 20th. We have two 1-hour time slots available daily (M-F). Register here.

We are doing our best to bring back programs but it will take time. We are in the process of hiring and training staff to make sure we are ready to open the pool safely while following all CDC guidelines. Check back for updates or follow us on Facebook @fifeparksrecaquatics.
FIFE COMMUNITY CENTER:Fully closed with all programming suspended. All rentals that are canceled have been notified by city staff. All programming is suspended for recreation and senior programs, with the exception of CCS lunches.
PARKS: Basketball Court:  Our basketball courts remain closed until Phase 3.
Playgrounds: Playgrounds are now open. Please know playgrounds are to be used at your own risk
Picnic Shelters: Picnic shelter rentals will be unavailable for the remainder of 2020.
Restrooms: The restrooms are now open. We are working hard to keep our restrooms clean according to the CDC guidelines. However, our restroom facilities are only as clean as the last person that used them. Please note that toilet paper and soap may not be available when you visit. If it is, please use only what you need and do not remove them from the facility.
Hand sanitizer is not provided.
Skatepark: The skate park is currently open.

We hope you continue to practice social distancing while playing outside.
PLAYGROUNDS: Playgrounds are now open. Please know playgrounds are to be used at your own risk
TENNIS COURTS: The tennis courts at Dacca Park are now open.  Thank you for respecting social distancing guidelines while utilizing the tennis courts. Please limit use to members of the same household only.
TRAILS: The good news is that Fife’s trails are wide open with plenty of room for social distancing. Here’s a PDF of all the city’s trails.

These precautions are a result of the ongoing COVID-19 health recommendations. City officials are in close contact with public health officials and closures will be reevaluated. Any continuation or changes will be communicated. For more information on how the City of Fife is responding to COVID-19, please visit cityoffife.org/covid19
