The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report reflecting proposed flood hazard determinations within all of Pierce County, effective March 7, 2017. The FIRM’s include the addition or modification of base flood elevations, base flood depths, special flood hazard area boundaries, zone designations, and the regulatory floodway (see links below). The maps for the City of Fife also identifies a new seclusion area. This is an area that has not been shown to comply with Section 65.10 of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations (44CFR65.10), due to the non-accredited levee, and will be reviewed and may be revised at a later time. Review FEMA's Levee Seclusion Maps below.
FEMA FIRM maps are available below. The City of Fife also has large, printed copies if you prefer to review them at City Hall. Take a look to see how the new maps, that became effective March 7, 2017, affect you.
If you have any specific questions about the flood hazard determinations, please contact Perry Fegley with Community Development.
