What is the “Tacoma Dome Link Extension” project?

The Tacoma Dome Link Extension is part of the voter-approved system expansion that extends regional light rail approximately 9.7 miles from the Federal Way Transit Center to the Tacoma Dome Station area. The project travels through the cities of Federal Way, Milton, Fife and Tacoma, and the reservation of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. The project also includes an operations and maintenance facility in the south corridor (South King and Pierce counties).

Why is it important to Fife?

Fife is on the cusp of great things and we’re counting on businesses and residents to help shape our city’s future. The Fife Planning Commission has researched the options for the placement of the light rail station and will be recommending a location north of Pacific Highway (SR 99) as the preferred alternative to Fife City Council.

A Light Rail Station Location North of Pacific Highway Offers:

  • A Safer, more walk-able Transit Oriented Development/City Center

  • Better vehicular circulation to access parking garage

  • An incentive to redevelop 360-degrees around the station
