Road Closure: Freeman Road

The Surprise Lake culvert crossing is undergoing installation until September 30. No traffic, except local residential, is allowed between 26th and 20th, which has to enter from 20th street. A detour is out and around 70th Street.

The culvert installation at Wapato Creek South is also underway until September 30. The closure is at Valley Ave, and all Valley Ave (Freeman Road) traffic is routed from 26th Street via 70th. This is a hard closure, which means it is not possible to pass over Wapato Creek South. As soon as this work is complete, there will be full access from Valley Avenue to 26th St. For all traffic, freeman road from 26th street to 20th street will once again be closed to rebuild road and will remain closed until December.

View a map of the detour route here.

A segment of 20th Street East in Fife will close to all traffic around the clock for two years starting Monday, March 9. During that time, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will build a new northbound Interstate 5 bridge over the Puyallup River and a new northbound high-occupancy-vehicle lane, and make other improvements to I-5 between Portland Avenue in Tacoma and the Port of Tacoma Road in Fife.
